Virtual exchange is an international learning opportunity that provides cost-effective and universal access to cross-cultural dialogue. It leverages technology to develop career readiness skills and build global competencies for youth around the world. However, many people do not understand what virtual exchange is and how it can be used to build crucial 21st century skills.  

For this reason, the Stevens Initiative is launching the “Virtual Exchange Is…” digital campaign to crowdsource and highlight stories that show the positive impact of virtual exchange.  

What is virtual exchange and how has it made a positive impact on your life?

Using the hashtag #worldclassconnection, we are asking people to share their experience and reflections with virtual exchange on social media to increase awareness of this powerful education tool. Throughout the year, the Stevens Initiative and the Aspen Institute, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State, will amplify stories to help shed light on how virtual exchange facilitates world-class connections within and beyond the classroom. Additionally, we will share resources, statistics, and other information to help shed light on the purpose and importance of virtual exchange.
