- Undergraduate
Hashemite University’s Research, Education, and Advocacy for Community Health (REACH) brings together college-aged youth in the United States and in the Middle East for online, face-to-face learning experiences.
Participants learn leadership and social innovation in public health, data science, and technology while focusing on diversity in the presence of trained facilitators in both synchronous (live) and asynchronous exchange. Through facilitated learning and discussions participants will develop insights into each other’s culture, more effective cross-cultural communication abilities, and essential communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Activities
Participants work together to design and implement a community service project related to public health and the use of technology. The curriculum has activities that take place online in real-time through Slack and Zoom as well as away from the virtual classroom. Through interactive modules on data science, leadership, community issues, and digital citizenship, participants gain global competency skills. Small group dialogues help participants build mutual understanding and learn how to communicate across culture and regions. Participating teams in the Global Health Case Competition showcase their projects, initiatives, and ideas.
