Soliya’s Global Circles brings together participants for facilitated discussions on a timely topic to develop greater awareness and common understanding around the challenges and opportunities posed by global technologies and their impact on society. Global Circles is open to direct enrollment, enabling participants who may not be affiliated with a formal education institution to sign up. Young people from the United States and Middle East and North Africa learn from and with each other through discussion-based activities, engaging in both live and offline exchange. At the same time, through skill building activities, participants gain critical career readiness skills and attitudes such as interpersonal communication, empathy, and critical thinking.
Activities
In small groups led by trained facilitators, participants gather in a virtual space to discuss a topic that matters locally and globally. Throughout the duration of the program, participants attend online, face-to-face dialogue sessions, and also engage offline by contributing comments and questions onto a shared group stream. Participants are also invited to read resources that explain the general philosophy of dialogue, the rules of engagement, and how to best use the online platform. Through participation, young people increase their topical knowledge and begin building meaningful international relationships, as well as gain key critical thinking, communication, and technical skills. Young people register directly into Global Circles, an open-enrollment program, and they can apply to join as many rounds as desired.
