Christine Shiau is a dynamic leader serving as the executive director of the Stevens Initiative at the Aspen Institute. With a profound passion for empowering young people and fostering cross-cultural understanding, she spearheads the Initiative’s vision and mission to drive transformative change, fostering a new generation of globally competent and culturally aware leaders. Christine is a visionary strategist, shaping the program’s trajectory and forging key partnerships worldwide. Her innovative approach combines strategic acumen with creative thinking, positioning virtual exchange as an international movement that is redefining global learning. Through her dedicated efforts, she has cultivated a resilient ecosystem for technology-enabled exchanges, enhancing global competencies and career readiness skills in young minds.
In addition to her pivotal role at the Stevens Initiative, Christine actively contributes to the international exchange community. She serves on the boards of the Alliance for International Exchange, AMP Global Youth, Podium Education, and DCPS Global Education reflecting her commitment to enhancing global education and intercultural connections.
Christine brings a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors, enriching her strategic perspective. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a minor in Marketing from the University of Illinois-Chicago. Committed to continuous growth, she earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland, further honing her expertise.
