Introduction to Virtual Exchange

This training covers all the topics and issues required to set up and implement a class-to-class virtual exchange, while also looking at other ready-made options of virtual exchange. The aim of the training is to introduce university educators and staff to virtual exchange through experiential learning. Participants will understand the requirements to successfully integrate virtual exchange into existing courses and curricula and will gain experience in online collaboration, communication, teaching, and learning. The training requires no previous experience with virtual exchange. There are four modules: Introduction to virtual exchange; Setting up a class-to-class virtual exchange; Basics of virtual exchange design; and Challenges and solutions.

Length of Training

Four weeks, two hours of asynchronous work and 90 minutes of synchronous session per week. Or, 16 hours online synchronous video communication which can be divided into different time slots depending on an organization’s needs (e.g., four half-day slots, two full-day slots, eight two-hour slots, etc.)
